So who am I?!?
Basic question right? Would seem so but honestly it can be a little complicated! I’m a 32-year-old California native who has called DC home for the past six years. I talk with a southern drawl at times and I love all New England sports teams (see it’s complicated)! I attended Clemson University (Go Tigers!) where I received my B.A. in Communication Studies. After graduating I moved back to California and started working for my local U.S. Congressman. I knew that one day I wanted to live on the East Coast so when an opportunity came up to work in the Congressman’s Washington, D.C. office I took it. Though I did have some hesitation about leaving my family behind, I looked to my grandmother for advice. My grandmother told me that she left home at the age of 19 to travel and live out her dreams so it was time that I take the leap and start doing the same. That advice is something that I still hold dear.
Now, after completing a Masters degree in Political Management from The George Washington University and almost 10 years working on Capitol Hill, I decided that it was time to pursue my other passions. Whether it’s travel plans full of excursions, events big or small, or helping plan your special day, I want to make your vision a reality.
Below are some facts about me and why I love planning travel, events, and weddings!
Where did your passion for travel come?
Growing up in a military family I would hear stories about traveling and living all over the U.S. and abroad. These stories inspired me to do the same! In 2018 I went from London and Paris to Tulum, Mexico to Palm Springs, California and capped off the year in Dublin, Ireland. I usually like to plan out my year with places that I want to visit and 2019 is no different. I already have a family trip to Cuba, wedding in Los Angeles, and bachelorette in Sedona booked as well as some other minor trips and that just takes me to June! I can’t wait to see where else I can explore and I pour that passion into planning trips for others.
Events, big deal anyone can do that right?
That’s a question/comment that I get a lot. Of course anyone can plan an event! But it’s experience and attention to detail that really elevates an event from good to great.
Much of my time on Capitol Hill involved scheduling. I basically had to plan out every second of the day for my boss’ life as well as logistics and event coordination. So to say that I’m a Type A person would be an understatement! Just while on Capitol Hill I planned everything from a staff retreat of 15 people across three cities with flights, rental cars, hotel rooms, security, and vendors to an over 75 person retirement party/staff reunion complete with 30 minute farewell video. Seeing my boss’ vision come to life with some of my personal touches inspired me to start my own business helping others get the most out of their events.
So where does weddings play in with all of this?
Although I’m not married it doesn’t mean that I haven’t been a part of my friends special days. Recently my roommate got married and she asked me to be her co-Maid of Honor. I was able to help her not only in the months leading to the wedding but also the day of. Seeing everything come together for her special day made me realize that I want to help out others make their day just as special.
